Eligibility

circle Foreign English Teacher

1. The official or common language of the nation (as the nationality shown on the passport) where the applicant is from must be English. Identification of the official or common language of a nation is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan). * If the applicant has dual nationality (ROC Taiwan citizen and other foreign nationality), please use the foreign nationality to apply.

1. Hold a state-issued teaching license or certificate.
2. Have taught English courses in accredited foreign schools for more than one year, or have served as a full-time teaching assistant of English courses in domestic public schools that participate in MOE's program for more than one year, and have met one of the following requirements:
   1. Hold a bachelor’s degree or above in education, English or a related field, and have studied English language teaching methods, teaching assessment, introduction to second language learning and trial teaching for more than 120 hours.
   2. Hold a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate, TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate or CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) certificate approved by accredited universities.
      The courses offered by the university mentioned in item b in granting the certificates shall meet the following requirements:
      1. The course includes English language teaching methods, teaching assessment, introduction to second language learning and trial teaching.
      2. The course lasts at least 120 hours.
      3. Distance learning courses shall not exceed two thirds of the total course hours.

Identification of the official or common language of a nation is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan). * If the applicant has dual nationality (ROC Taiwan citizen and other foreign nationality), please use the foreign nationality to apply.

      Note : Applicants without prior teaching experiences in either Taiwan or other countries are highly advised (but not required) to provide education or teaching qualifications that are either certified by Republic of China (Taiwan) Embassies and Missions or verified by a recognized credential evaluation agency [1] .
